About us

Empowered Men Empower Society

The New Zealand Ethnic Men’s Council was founded by Wanli Chang and Gurdeep Talwar, who recognised the need for an organisation dedicated to the well-being of men. Responding to the calls from minority ethnic men, we became the pioneering ethnic organisation in New Zealand focused on supporting males. As a registered charitable trust, our mission is to empower ethnic men across the nation by fostering community, promoting cultural pride, and addressing the unique challenges they face. We firmly believe in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all men to thrive, regardless of gender identity.

As a non-profit, nationwide charitable trust, our goal is to be the voice of ethnic men in New Zealand. Through our initiatives, we aim to build a strong sense of community, celebrate cultural heritage, and tackle the specific challenges encountered by ethnic men in society. Our mission is driven by a commitment to fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for ethnic men to flourish.

Our dedication extends beyond gender lines. We conduct sessions to promote kindness and respect towards all genders, recognising the importance of inclusivity in our society. Te Toipoto, our safe haven, is devoted to providing support, nurturing cultural pride, fostering mutual assistance, addressing shared challenges, and advocating for mental well-being.

Through our initiatives, we strive to create a sense of belonging, honour cultural diversity, and address the unique challenges faced by ethnic men in society.
